Third Time Not The Charm

On January 19, 2012, we just came back from the airport after a week of holiday inMedan,Indonesia. It was 10:20pm and we haven’t had dinner yet. That day was also my older brother’s birthday. So we thought we just drop off the bags and head out for a quick dinner.

When we arrived in front of our gate, we saw a piece of notice from a courier company saying “We’re sorry you’re not at home when we came by on Jan 14…” My dad was furious when he saw that because it clearly declared to the world that we’re not around. And the date was the day we left, so it’s been sticking there for 6 days confirming to anybody that no one is home to anyone who passed by.

Hari Raya celebration is coming soon (Aug 30-31) so many people are starting to shop for new clothes and household items as part of the preparation. On Hari Raya, Malay (and even other ethnics like Chinese and Indians) women wear traditional clothes called baju kurung and baju kurung comes in many variations. A lot of shops sell ready made baju kurung, but a lot of people prefer made to order so they can choose the fabric and styles they want.

When I Was 17

I realized I haven’t been blogging for quite a while. I was watching MTV and saw snippets of one of their show and thought it would be an interesting subject to discuss. The show is called “When I Was 17” where celebrities reminisce about what life was like when they were 17.

It’s been a while since I was 17 but I’ve got some interesting facts and stories to tell. So here they are. When I was 17…

… I was a tomboy. I had boy haircut and wore baggy clothes – like what the rappers wear. Hahahaha! I wish I could show you all some of my old pictures but they’re so mortifying and something that should never be shown to the public! I once had a friend (during college years) who came over to my house and flipped through my old albums and when she saw one of those photos, with a confused look on her face, asked me, “Is that you?!” When I confirmed it, she burst in a wild laughter because I look so different now. I still don’t like wearing girly clothes, but my face is always prim and proper with makeup :p I think I wore those baggy clothes because I wasn’t comfortable with my body. Blossoming into a lady with no sister to consult to, was kind of traumatic hahaha!
